As a teen David began writing poetry, and has compiled over 2,000 original poems contained in 20 manuscripts over the
last 32 years. Several of these have appeared in print in anthologies around the country.
In 1990, Argenta began a small business, Pencil Architecture, Inc., in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the urging of
the Sales Director of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Initial subjects included noteworthy Colorado Springs buildings such
as the 5-star Broadmoor Hotel, Glen Eyrie Castle, and the U.S. Air Force Academy Chapel.
He later expanded his portfolio to include drawings around the state of Colorado in resort towns like Aspen,
Telluride, Crested Butte, and Breckenridge. The collection was further expanded to include buildings outside of Colorado such as
the White House, the Notre Dame University Gold Dome, and Independence Hall in Philadelphia. These hand-drawn
8-1/2"x11" and 11"x14" renderings take up to 50-100 hours
to complete.
In addition to these pencil renderings, David has painted subjects as varied as Pike's Peak,
the first space shuttle launch, and Bavaria's White Castle, Neuschwanstein. These 11"x14" and 18"x24"
paintings, done in oil and pencil, take as long as 100-200 hours each.
Argenta's original drawings and paintings of architecture and landscapes are for sale. However, most of the larger
pencil renderings and oil paintings remain in his private collection.
